PHRASES IN SPANISH (IV)

Corto de luces.

The literal translation is “short of lights.” In English we say: “the lights are on, but nobody’s home” or “not the brightest bulb.” Basically what you’re saying when you say that someone is corto de luces is that they’re a little ditsy or that they don’t pick up on things quickly.
